Our Vision

We are a nature-based, Reggio-inspired program serving children ages 6 weeks through 5 years. Our vision is to inspire and encourage all children to develop a lifelong love of learning, celebrate their strengths, thrive in their differences and believe that they too can make a dent in the universe.

Infants (6 Weeks - 12 Months)

The Aspen Grove infant program thrives on creating a nurturing environment and strong bonds with teacher-caregivers, forming the foundation for joyful development. Our caregivers fill each day with love, warmth, and optimism, following each baby’s individual routine for naps, feeding, and play. We engage with babies through conversation, singing, reading, and sign language, supporting their growth as they develop sounds into words, movements into first steps, and connections into friendships.

Daily outdoor exploration and a dedicated indoor gross motor space enhance their sensory and physical development. Our Infant classrooms also receive weekly music classes, supported by the Settlement Music School. As babies near the transition to the young toddler classroom, we prepare them with gradual changes like cot naps and more independent routines, while ensuring that new classrooms are close by for a smooth adjustment.

Enrollment Options: Full-Time Only (5 Days)

Toddlers (13 Months - 3 Years)

Our toddler program recognizes that 1 and 2-year-olds are discovering their independence and identity, experiencing a blend of the familiar and the new. Teachers introduce a structured daily rhythm starting with morning circle, fostering self-awareness, self-expression, and self-regulation through Conscious Discipline® practices. The nature-based curriculum includes reading, singing, arts and crafts, napping, snacking, and eating in joyful, naturally lit spaces designed with stimulating play provocations.

Children explore and express their natural curiosity while building foundational skills such as executive functioning, problem-solving, resilience, task completion, independence, and respectful social interactions. Movement and outdoor time are integral, with a dedicated gross motor space for activities like running and climbing, and daily outdoor exploration even in the busy city. Our collaboration with the local library and Nature Jack enriches their experience with special reading sessions and monthly tactile science projects. Through our partnership with the Settlement Music School, Toddlers also receive weekly music classes.

Enrollment Options:

  • Full-Time: 5 Days
  • Part-Time: 2 Days (Tues/Thurs) or 3 Days (Mon/Wed/Fri)

*We do not offer half-day options. The 2 and 3 day programs will follow scheduled days only.

Primary Circle (3 – 5 Years, Mixed Age Classrooms)

In preschool and prekindergarten, children enhance their social, cognitive, and motor skills while developing a growing interest in literacy and numeracy. Our program features student-centered materials and incorporates Loose Parts for play and Conscious Discipline® for social-emotional development. Phonics instruction builds phonemic awareness and letter recognition, while shared reading promotes good reading habits, vocabulary, and print concepts. Daily numeracy activities explore mathematical concepts, and STEM learning, enriched by a partnership with Nature Jack, encourages observation and discovery. Spanish language skills are introduced through games and art, and music education, supported by the Settlement Music School, engages children through rhythmic and movement-based activities. Daily gross motor play, including an indoor climbing wall, supports physical development and problem-solving. Student progress is monitored through observations using the Teaching Strategies Gold Assessment.

Conscious Discipline®

An evidence-based social-emotional program, Conscious Discipline®, equips children with tools and nurturing guidance to develop self-regulation from within. It helps them resolve conflicts, express their needs, and manage their emotions, enabling them to focus and learn effectively. The framework is implemented during morning meetings and afternoon wrap-ups, fostering positive peer interactions and emphasizing cooperative engagement.

Reggio-Inspired

We are a Reggio-inspired school where learning is wrapped in joy. Drawing from various early learning philosophies, we hold the strong belief that children are inherently powerful, deeply curious, and capable of remarkable creativity and complex thinking.

The Reggio Emilia Approach® is an educational philosophy that views children as inherently capable and entitled individuals. It emphasizes that children learn through a myriad of expressive languages and develop in connection with others.

Loose Parts

Loose parts provide endless opportunities for play. They encourage multiple outcomes rather than a single one, as they come without specific instructions and allow for a variety of results. Loose parts inspire children to craft their own stories and cultivate skills to see things from different perspectives.

Nature-based Learning

Nature-based learning integrates experiences from the natural world into our lessons, using nature to teach disciplines such as science, math, and language development. For instance, we learn about resilience from the persistent woodpecker, beginnings and endings from the changing seasons, and symmetry from a starfish. Key features of nature-based learning include regular outdoor time, incorporating natural elements into indoor environments with ample natural light, and encouraging children to explore and discover the world around them.
